About Us

In 2020, the Alabama Defense Advanced Manufacturing Community consortium was created to promote visibility, awareness, and adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies. To fulfill ADAMC’s mission, our focus emphasized on three thrust areas: workforce development, technology adoption, and technology development

ADAMC is comprised of over 20 counties encompassing much of the region’s defense industrial base and includes partners from industry, academia, workforce development, economic development, and municipalities. Working together, this community has the ability and strategy to leverage its strengths to support the development and adoption of manufacturing technologies and build upon opportunities to enhance the development and education of the regional workforce that is critical to modernization of the DoD industrial base and related industries.

The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH), a part of The University of Alabama System, has been awarded a $3.7 million Department of Defense (DoD) grant under the Defense Manufacturing Community Support Program (DMCSP) by the Office of Economic Adjustment (OEA). As part of the Alabama Defense Advanced Manufacturing Community (ADAMC), UAH is tasked with utilizing this grant to undertake a $6.2 million project to focus on the visibility, workforce training and adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies in the region, with an emphasis on the modernization of aviation, missiles and ground vehicle systems.
